This research project is funded by Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) within the Public Invitation for collaboration in the promotion of the Cybersecurity Chairs in Spain. The specific website for this research project with more information is this (in Spanish).
Within this Chair, several initiatives are proposed (see below). The target audience for these training courses is focused, in addition to students who have recently graduated from related BSc degrees at the University of Zaragoza (such as the BSc Degree in Informatics Engineering or the BSc Degree in Telecommunications Technology Engineering), on personnel from the State Security Forces and Bodies and the Ministry of Defense.
These initiatives are carried out within the framework of the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union (Next Generation), the project of the Government of Spain that outlines the roadmap for the modernization of the Spanish economy, the recovery of economic growth and job creation, for solid, inclusive and resilient economic reconstruction after the COVID19 crisis, and to respond to the challenges of the next decade.
Specifically, these proposed initiatives are:
- Master in Cyber Defense and Security Audit. This postgraduate program offers comprehensive training in the critical fields of cyber defense (defender vision) and security auditing (attacker vision), with emphasis on cyber intelligence and cyber threat analysis. The master’s degree is made up of subjects that cover a wide range of topics related to information security, from cryptographic fundamentals to security auditing and incident response. Additionally, the program offers three specialties, allowing students to choose a specific focus within the field of cybersecurity. Specifically, these 3 lines respond to cyber intelligence (focused on the collection and analysis of data related to cybersecurity to make informed and strategic decisions), cyber threats (focused on identification, analysis and response to threats) and security audit (focused on evaluation and assurance security in systems and networks).
- University Expert in Cybersecurity in the Cloud. Cloud computing is a computing paradigm that allows storage and computing services to be offered over the Internet. These computing services can be offered at very different levels (from simple computers to database management systems and others). In recent years, the trend to move computing resources to the cloud seems unstoppable, especially for small or startup companies that do not have the resources to manage their own infrastructure. Unfortunately, there is increasing dependence on technological resources and they are not always adequately protected. This course proposes an introduction to the basic pieces required to ensure our activity in the cloud: from the point of view of the paradigm itself, passing through the fundamental pieces involved (systems, networks and programs) and without forgetting the regulatory aspects.
- University Expert in Response to Cybercriminals. Technological evolution has brought with it countless benefits, but it has also generated significant challenges in terms of security. The comprehensive training provided by this course addresses these challenges by offering a diverse set of skills, from secure system design to effective incident response. The increasing interconnection of devices and the digitization of business processes highlight the need for professionals who deeply understand security principles, from software analysis to digital forensics. This course addresses these critical aspects, preparing students to confront and mitigate emerging threats, thus contributing to the construction of safer and more resilient digital environments.
- Summer Course in Programming in Rust. Rust has emerged as a programming language that combines the efficiency of low-level code with the security and error prevention inherent in high-level languages. Its modern syntax, robust type system, and ability to safely manage concurrency make it a valuable tool for addressing current challenges in software development. This course will provide students with the essential skills for programming in Rust, from fundamental concepts to advanced techniques. The choice of Rust as a study approach is justified not only by its efficiency and security, but also by its increasing adoption in critical projects, such as operating systems, infrastructure tools, and high-performance application development.
